Folk Art

Folk Art
Folk art is where Kenya crafts began. Village scenes are made of banana fiber and painted on bottle caps, animals are carved out of soapstone, beaded art depicts fanciful people and animals, villagers and village scenes are hand carved in towers of ebony wood, hand carved gourds for carrying and fermenting milk depict wild animals and tribal designs and are hung with leather straps decorated with beads. One could go back even further to the fanciful ceremonial masks made of wood and fiber. Some of these traditions are lost. We hope to bring them back.
